New Daily Teams Meetings
Class pages will no longer be updated by the class teachers. This is due to our new learning expectations, which include a daily Microsoft Teams meeting, 08:45-09:00, to register home learners and prepare them for the day of learning.
To access Teams you need to be logged in to your school email account (Office 365) - for help, click here. Or see the child friendly video for using Office 365 - Outlook email here.
For help using Teams, click here. Or see the child friendly video tutorial for using Teams here.
Assessment work
You no longer need to email in evidence of your work on a daily basis - this has been replaced with set pieces of work that will be identified for assessment. Your teachers will tell you which ones these are in the morning Teams meeting and they will be clearly identified on the daily planning.
To send in your assessment piece, you will usually send an email (ideally from your own school account) with a photo or uploaded attachment of the work. Sometimes, assessment may just be to complete a Microsoft Form or to complete a quiz.
Your teachers would love to respond to all of your emails but that is not possible now. If you do not get a response, and you think you should have (i.e. you asked a question that needs a response), please resend the email with, ‘PLEASE RESPOND’ in the email subject line, this will act as a reminder in such busy times.
Teachers will select samples of work from those entered, to build exemplars of work against the set success criteria at differentiated levels (working towards age related expectations, working at expectations and working at greater depth) to reflect a normal classroom. The work selected will remain anonymous and will focus only on the good examples of meeting the success criteria. Pupils (and families) will then be given the opportunity to self-assess their work against the exemplars to judge how well they are doing and pick out some targets to work on in their next assessment piece.
Enjoy the new learning format.

Good afternoon 6EP!
Thank you so much to those of you who joined our Teams meeting. We nearly had 100%! I know it's a bit strange at the moment but I am so impressed with how you are all managing and coping. I wanted to remind you that you are all welcome to email me if you do suddenly think of a question or worry that you didn't remember during the meeting.
'See' you all on Monday ready for our first 8.45am Teams daily meeting. Remember we will be doing our register and then working through our Maths starter boards. I will also go through our in school timetable so that those of you at home know what we will be doing and can use it as your structure if you'd like to.
Have a VERY lovely weekend and I will 'see' you on Monday :)

A message from Mr Quick and Mr Haggart...
We are hosting a Live Exercise class on Wednesday 27th from 10:55-11:30 - this shouldn't be at the same time as any Teams calls as far as we are aware.
All pupils have been sent the Teams invite for this event - we have created a little video to encourage the children to take part.
Here is the YouTube link https://youtu.be/3y9j13EDBbI

A REMINDER FOR TOMORROWS TEAMS MEETING:
- When your teacher invites you to a session it will appear in the relevant channel on Teams. Try to make sure that you are in a quiet, shared, comfortable environment, free from distractions for your session. Please avoid being in your bedrooms unless supervised by an adult.
- If you can’t make the “live” session, then try let us know before the session begins.
- Just like in the classroom, we ask you not to talk at the same time as the teacher. So, keep your microphone on mute unless you want to ask a question or say something in which case hold up your hand just like you would in school. When you have got permission to speak, say what you want to say, and then mute your microphone again.
- Keep your camera on (if you can) because we would like to see your lovely faces and create a virtual classroom.
- You must not record or take photos of teachers or students during video conferencing sessions, and you must not share lessons publicly. Remember our online safety rules – no sharing of personal information.
- We must all follow these rules to keep you safe and to make sure things run smoothly. Just like in school, always remember the Chesswood Bright Sparks Code – show courtesy, care and kindness at all times.

Good morning 6EP :)
I hope you are ready and excited for another day of home learning. What are you learning about today? I would love to see some of your work being emailed into me. I'm only getting some things in and I want to see loads!
Remember tomorrow is our class Teams meeting and I'm expecting to see more faces than we did last time. If you are joining us but you're not sure how just let me know! I can easily help you to sort that out so you feel part of the team. I will write a reflection message on our class page after the meeting tomorrow so you all know how it went even if you cannot attend. 'See' you soon!

Good Morning 6EP! How are you all this morning? Take a look below at the brilliant work we are now getting in! Remember all you need to do is email me a copy of your work and I can pop it up here for us all to be impressed by!
I got an email this morning to help with one of the Maths questions. Remember I am here to help! If you're not sure, you only have to ask and I will make sure help is on it's way :) I also wanted to remind everyone that we should be focusing on the first page of the Maths (the fluency) and to use the second page (the reasoning) as your challenge.
I am so looking forward to 'seeing' you all on Thursday morning for our Teams call :)

Super star chef Paddy has been busy at home practising his D&T skills by creating a delicious looking salad. I particularly love how we can see you using your carrot grating skills Paddy! Great job :)
Good morning!
How was your weekend break? I hope you feel well rested and ready for the week ahead :)
Ms Fellows is going to be calling this week if you weren't on our class Teams meeting. I want to make sure you were able to access it all alright and weren't finding things too overwhelming. It is also parents evening this week! This means that if you have any questions, let your parents or carers know and they can ask me so we can get everything sorted for you.
See you all (hopefully) on our Teams meeting on Thursday at 11am :)

Good afternoon 6EP!
How has your week been? I hope you've really enjoyed your time at home (or with us at school!) learning in a different way. Today we did our class teams meeting call. We saw Theo and had a conversation with Paddy which was so lovely. If you didn't attend the call I will ask Ms Fellows to check in on Monday with you all to see if there is a problem we can help you with.
I hope to see as many people as possible at 11am next Thursday!
Have a brilliant and restful weekend - see you all next week :)
12.01.21 Good morning 6EP!
Take a look at the brilliant work that Theo produced yesterday! What a star. Remember if you send me some work in, I'll be sure to pop at least one picture up for 6EP to see :)
Keep it up!
11.01.21 Good morning 6EP!
How are you all? I hope you had a well rested weekend ready for this week.
From today, you should expect a call from Ms Fellows or Miss Daly as they are going to be checking in with you whilst I'm teaching the children from our class who have come into school. If you have any worries please do let them know so we can help you in the best way. If you're feeling overwhelmed or like you don't know where to start (I felt a little like that this morning!) please share the worry - we can very easily help you make a timetable to structure your day and that feeling is very normal.
If you are proud of your work or just want to check in, please do feel free to email me (eprice@chesswood.w-sussex.sch.uk) so I can take a look and perhaps even put your work up on our class page for everyone to see! Wouldn't that be exciting.
Most morning, although not all, I will be posting on here for you to take a read and hopefully still help you to feel part of our class and our community :)
If I don't hear from you today - enjoy it! We'll speak soon.
Miss Price :)
Meet the teacher 2020 - a slightly different and more technology based edition! I look forward to meeting you all in person as soon as possible.
Welcome to our new class page 6EP! I am so looking forward to meeting you all today for our transition afternoon at 2.15-2.45. If you cannot make it, do not worry. I have added the booklet at the bottom of this page for you have a go at working through it over the summer break. Please do feel free to email me if you have any questions or further worries at all.
Transition event reflections -
Wow! What a brilliant group of fun and inquisitive children we have in our class! I am so excited to work with all of you after the summer break and see what you can all do.
Thank you for such brilliant questions today - if you are now feeling like you had a strong question to ask please feel free to email me so I can put your mind to rest. I don't want anyone worried over the summer break.
I have now given you a paper copy of your transition booklet which I would love for you to have a go at filling out (as I showed you) today. Bring this in in September for me to take a look! Remember I am giving you full permission to get creative with it.
Bring on September!
OPPORTUNITY
As you may be aware, we are participating in the South Downs Project. This is a partnership between The Friends of the South Downs and 4 local schools: Bury, Shipley, Findon and Chesswood. To develop momentum, the project leader, Chris, has decided to run a summer competition for years 4, 5 and 6. This will involve Chesswood pupils interviewing local residents about memories they have from their childhood, working life and specific historical events (see: attached letter at the bottom to enter). Good luck!
A message to you and everyone else in year 6...
Hello and welcome to Year 6! We are looking forward to meeting you all and welcoming you to life at the top of Chesswood – it’s a great adventure!
Firstly, we would love to find out more about you, so we have some super home learning tasks for you to do. Have a look at our Year 6 PowerPoint presentation to find out more.
Once you have completed your postcard task, email them to your class teacher with any other work or information you would like us to know. We would love it if you can read at least 2 books from the lists over summer. This is a great way to start the year feeling confident and earn yourself some extra house points too!
In Year 6, we are all keen readers and we love to share our book recommendations with each other. Check out our reading list to find out loads of brilliant books for you to lose yourself in.
A note from me to get us started...
Dear 6EP,
I am delighted to welcome you as my third class at Chesswood. I am very excited to get to know you all and see what fantastic work you can do! Miss Daly and Miss Carter will be the other adults who will support you all, alongside myself, to be the best you can be in year 6.
We have many engaging topics to look forward to; from ‘Voyage of Discovery’ to Egyptians and Goblin Cars to name but a few! I’m sure you will all be very much looking forward to designing and building your own go-cart.
I am very excited to see you learn and grow in year 6. Enjoy your summer break – I am so excited to hear all about it when we come back in September!
From Miss Price :)
