The school year consists of 195 days. There are 5 In-Service Training Days (INSET). Children therefore attend school for 190 days per year or 380 sessions (a session is a morning or an afternoon). The use of time is carefully planned so schools leaders know precisely how much time is available and when it is available i.e. there are large movements in school holidays that affect the time available in specific terms. In working in this way we can be confident that the curriculum is planned in line with the time available and can be delivered successfully.
